Description: Designing an Effective PowerPoint Presentation is a course created to provide learners with tips on how to create an effective PowerPoint presentation at the institutional level. The development of this course contained three parts. The first milestone was the proposal for the course. The proposal included the purpose of the course, description, targeted learners, course goals, and learning objectives. The second milestone of this course was to create a syllabus. The syllabus displayed the instructors’ information, required materials and software, assignments with descriptions, grading rubrics, and a course schedule. The assignments were developed based on the learning objectives for the course. The final milestone of the course was the creation of the video. The video was created based on one learning objective. The short video describes how to embed videos into PowerPoint.

For this assignment, students were instructed to upload all documents. All the documents were later uploaded to Canvas as a mini course.

Course: TKT 8823: Design, Delivery, and Management of Distance Education

Role: The assignment was a group project. However, I played the role of assisting with picking the topic, objectives, and learners. I also developed the assignments, its description, and its grading rubric on the syllabus. I was also responsible for creating the folders in Canvas.

Skills Involved: e-learning instruction/distance education, designing for adult learners, Canvas, critical thinking, teamwork

Key Features: Mastery of Microsoft Word features

Reflection: During this time of this assignment I learned how to work with more than one group member via online contact. For us to communicate properly, we used Blackboard Collaborate weekly. Also, I also learned how to operate a new learning management system. Canvas’s interface is comparable to Blackboard. Therefore, it was not hard for me to become knowledgeable on how to navigate the site and enter information into the system. Furthermore, the assignment turned out well. However, if I had the opportunity to redo the same assignment or complete a similar one I would take time management into consideration.
